Kernanderry: A Sustainable Vision Recognised at the BuildIt 2024 Awards
We are thrilled to announce that our Kernanderry project has been shortlisted for the BuildIt 2024 Awards in not one, but two prestigious categories:
Best Timber Frame Project
Best Architect
This recognition celebrates the innovation, craftsmanship, and dedication that went into delivering this sustainable, energy-efficient home in Oxfordshire.
Why Kernanderry Stands Out
Kernanderry is a modern home designed to exceed expectations for both performance and aesthetics. Working alongside a talented architectural team, we brought to life a vision of sustainable luxury that combines low-energy construction with stunning design.
Key Features That Earned the Recognition
- Sustainability at Its Core: Achieving a 72.9% reduction in CO₂ emissions, the home incorporates a high-spec timber frame structure, triple glazing, and premium insulation to achieve exceptional U-values.
- Renewable Energy Integration: A 5.20 kW photovoltaic (PV) array powers the home, reducing grid reliance and contributing to its outstanding environmental performance.
- Architectural Excellence: The home’s layout seamlessly blends modern design principles with functional living spaces. The incorporation of a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system ensures comfort and efficiency year-round.
- Airtight and Efficient: With an impressive air permeability rating of 1.2 m³/(h.m²), Kernanderry demonstrates a level of precision that’s rare in residential builds.
A Shared Vision
This project reflects the strength of collaboration between Jackson Builders and the architectural team, with every detail—from materials to systems—carefully chosen to deliver both form and function.
Being recognised in the Best Timber Frame Project and Best Architect categories is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in bringing Kernanderry to life.
The BuildIt Awards celebrate the very best in self-build and custom home projects across the UK, and we are honoured to have been shortlisted among such inspiring work.
